Navigating mature hardwoods in historic borough neighborhoods and established residential subdivisions requires specialized arboricultural expertise. From preserving aging timber near the historic Chalfont train station to executing technical crane removals along Butler Avenue (Route 202) and Park Avenue (Route 152), ATS TREE SERVICES LLC provides the heavy equipment, technical skill, and local knowledge needed to keep your land safe and clear. Our family-owned business prioritizes timber health, structural integrity, and property protection across every phase of arborist deployment.
Chalfont’s tree canopy is shaped by its rich history, suburban density, and natural hydrology. Managing trees in this environment requires an understanding of local soil dynamics and canopy structures.
Managing Hydrological Stress in the Neshaminy Creek Corridor
Many properties in Chalfont border Neshaminy Creek or its tributaries. Trees growing in these riparian zones often deal with saturated soil, high water tables, and periodic erosion around major root systems. During heavy rain events or spring thaws, mature Maples, Willows, and Oaks in moist floodplains become prone to root-plate displacement. We use low-ground-pressure equipment and heavy ground-protection mats to access work zones near stream banks without compacting soil or disturbing sensitive drainage areas.

LOCAL CONTRACTOR SELECTION
| Evaluation Criteria | What You Should Look For | Why It Matters in Chalfont |
|---|---|---|
| Insurance & Compliance | Active General Liability and complete Workers' Compensation policies sent directly from the insurer | Working close to Butler Ave residential structures and power lines carries high risk; uninsured contractors leave homeowners liable |
| Industrial Fleet & Equipment | Modern mobile cranes, bucket trucks, commercial chippers, and self-propelled stump grinders | Managing mature hardwoods in tight Chalfont residential lots requires specialized machinery capable of controlled sectional lowering |
| Property Protection Protocols | Mandatory deployment of heavy-duty polymer ground protection mats and low-impact equipment routing | High water tables near the Neshaminy Creek watershed make lawns soft; protection mats prevent severe tire rutting and soil compaction |
| Local Arboricultural Knowledge | Familiarity with regional pests (Emerald Ash Borer, Spotted Lanternfly) and native canopy health assessments | Ensures mature trees in local neighborhoods are accurately diagnosed for internal decay rather than unnecessarily removed |
| Transparent Scope & Pricing | Itemized written proposals specifying exact brush cleanup, log hauling, and subsurface stump grinding depth | Eliminates surprise add-on fees after emergency storm restoration or complex hazardous removals are completed |

I had a clump of large trees that outgrew the space and were near the house. I called ATS and explained to them what I needed. David came out and we spoke about different options and equipment that would be used. He then emailed me several estimates detailing those options and allowed me to chose. I thought the pricing was very fair and I was able to approve the job online. Alex and his crew came a few days later and took down all 12 trees over a 2 day period. The crew was very organized and professional. They took great care not to damage any surrounding obstacles. When they were finished they cleaned everything up including all the small debris that fell in the yard. You couldn't even tell they were there with all the trucks and equipment. The final price was exactly what I was quoted and I am very happy with the service and the overall experience. I would definitely recommend using ATS Tree Service.Posted on Google![]()

This was an A++ experience! I called Adam (owner) around 1 pm to see if he could swing by to look at a tree that split and was leaning toward the house. He was at our house within 15 minutes. He was very knowledgeable and answered every single question we had, and then some! Once he gave us an idea if the cost of the project, we talked timeline to get it done. He said he could probably be back in a bit to get started. I figured in an hour or two. He left around 1:30 pm, sent the quote, and was back out our house by 2 pm with his truck and gear. He was up in the boom and started cutting by 2:15 pm. He was very clearly skilled and worked quickly two drop two trees. He worked until he finished exactly what we asked him to do. This was such an awesome experience and it was much more economically priced than I expected. I 100% recommend ATS to anyone who is looking to have tree work done. They are a local business doing right by the community! A++!!!Posted on Google![]()

Routine tree removal on single-family residential properties in Chalfont Borough generally does not require a permit. However, if your property is located within a protected riparian corridor along Neshaminy Creek or part of a historic district overlay, local regulations may apply. We help evaluate township guidelines prior to starting major work.
Properties near the Neshaminy Creek watershed often feature damp, soft topsoil. We use heavy-duty polymer ground-protection mats that spread machinery weight across a wider surface area, preventing deep tire ruts, lawn tearing, and soil compaction.
Sudden limb drop often stems from internal heartwood decay, heavy end-weight on co-dominant branches, or “sudden branch drop syndrome” brought on by heat stress following heavy rain. Our structural pruning reduces end-weight and removes compromised branches before storm winds act on them.
Our standard stump grinding service grinds the stump and major flare roots 6 to 12 inches below grade. Upon request, we can excavate residual mulch, backfill with clean topsoil, and re-seed the area so grass grows smoothly over the site.
Because our dispatch hub is located right here in Bucks County (Frontier Rd in Perkasie), our emergency teams can deploy rapidly to Chalfont for trees blocking driveways, resting on roofs, or tangling in power line corridors.
